The company has announced the expansion of DirectLight product family of LED video walls with new finer pixel pitch models. The added products are described as having superior front service mounting and other proprietary features.
The initial launch of Planar DirectLight Series took place in March 2015 with the presented pixel pitches of 1.6, 1.9, 2.5 and 3.1mm. The new series is available in 0.9, 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8mm pixel pitches for the enhanced short viewing distance applications. Each display features a 16:9 aspect ratio and precise pixel pitch values to achieve exact Full HD, 4K, and 8K resolutions, the company said.
The new DirectLight Series is described as fully front-installable and front-serviceable displays that can be mounted directly to the wall without the need for a separate structure. The displays also include the company’s proprietary EasyAlign Mounting System with fine, six-axis adjustments for the seamless alignment of video walls of any size. According to Leyard, the technology enables creating LED video walls that are less than four inches (101.6 mm) in total depth, achieving compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The new series comes with the DirectLight Remote Power Supply (RPS), an improved rack-mounted power supply that fits in a standard 19-inch rack. According to Leyard, it features n+1 redundancy, hot-swappable power modules, and circuit-level redundancy. The RPS comes in two versions, allowing for greater power density and minimized rack unit requirements.
The new displays can be installed to create concave curved video walls, wrapped 90-degree corner video walls and support video walls tilted forward up to 10 inches (254 mm). Positive locking features enable secure installations by ensuring video wall displays never shift.
